The Ulster Grassland Society (UGS) offers a bursary of £1000 to a first year student who is entering a Higher Education Programme at CAFRE.

Students wishing to apply for the Bursary have to apply through Greenmount campus. 

Students will have to complete a report on a topic selected by the Ulster Grassland Society that should not exceed 1500 words.

Students awarded the UGS bursary maybe asked to a short presentation to the Ulster Grassland Members at some stage in the future.



County Down Student, Anna Millar wins the 2016 Ulster Grassland Society’s Bursary At Greenmount

Anna is from Lisburn and is a past pupil of Wallace High School.  In addition to completing a report for the bursary competition, Anna was interviewed by representatives from the Ulster Grassland Society. She comments, “Although I was apprehensive before the interview, I found this a very useful experience.  I will be using this bursary to help fund my tuition fees at university.”  Although not from a farm Anna helps out on neighbouring dairy and sheep farms.  She is a talented violinist and pianist and helps coordinate music activities in her local church.  She is also a member of the Girls Brigade and Magheragall Riding Club.
